Honda Odyssey...check. Calendar with too many marks on it...check. Juice boxes....check. Both children clad in cleates, uniforms, and shin guards (Henry only thinks he plays on the team)...check. Lungs ready for an hour of screaming: "Go Cannon!", "No that way, the goal is that way" and "Stop picking the grass buddy!"...check!
It's official, I'm entering into the soccer mom phase. I actually like this stage of motherhood even more than the playgroup stage. It's funny how your oldest child sort of sets the meter for where you are in your life. I still attend our ward playgroup and hope to have more newborns in the future, but I don't feel like a new mom anymore, nor do I long for the same kinds of socialization I did when Cannon was Henry's age. I admit, playtimes and toddler music at the library have slightly lost their lustre for me, although I still try to do them for Henry's sake.
Anyway, life has been the usual ebb and flow of excitement. I don't want you to think that all we do is take trips, it's just--that's when we pull out the camera alot, so I have new pics to share. But, we took a great trip with our pals the Guenters and the Vandernoots down to mts. of North Georgia to watch the final leg of the Tour de Georgia, the biggest and most popular cycle race in the U.S. I'm only familiar with a handful of names because Harland follows the sport, so I wasn't too excited envisioning a day of wrangling the kids so they'd sit and wait on a lonely road for those few moments when the cyclists whizzed by. But as it turned out, the race was really fun and the guys got in a great ride that morning, which made me happy for them. It was a carnival-like atmosphere and the kids loved clanging their cowbells and cheering. Cannon even got to join Harland in the spectator tradition of boosting a favorite cyclist from behind as George Hencappe (sp?) cranked his way up the final stretch of a mountainous road. Not to mention that we stayed three nights in this huge cabin with our pals as we ate, watched movies, ate some more, played games, ate some more, and also went on a beautiful hike and walked along the Swiss-inspired town of Helen, where we stayed.
All in all, it was a thumbs up trip all the way. Now we're back in the grind and dismayed that May is here and summer's on it' s way. Talk to ya later!

I've been wanting you shoot you a email, but haven't taken the time yet, sorry. I just have to say I love this newer soccer mom stage. I just hope it all doesn't get to be too much when our other ones get older. Grayson has the same uniform as Cannon, how fun.
wow, driving a minivan, providing 2 gluten-free diets, cheering at soccer games...you are definitely dealing with different things than you were 10 years ago! funny how your activities revolve so much around your first child...I had no idea until now. My sister says it is always that way...we shall see...
super cute pics of the boys! can't wait to see what your daughters will look like...
Just admit it--you are always taking trips :) Your pics from the hike are beautiful and the cabin filled with kids and friends with kids sounds like so much fun!!
Bentley is playing t-ball this year so I am totally feeling the "soccer mom" lifestyle too. And it IS fun huh? When will you guys be here in Utah next? Our little ones would have a ball together--so sad you live far away but loved finding a new blog post :)

Hi Heather-
I found you through a long convoluted case of blog stalking. Isn't Helen, GA fun? I served my mission in Atlanta and spent a P-day there. We went back once with the kids when we lived in Charlotte. Loooks like your cute family is doing well! Hope you don't mind me visiting. Stop by the Tatro page anytime!
