Ultrasound Update and the Month in Review

Well, I never promised I'd be great at keeping my blog updated, or my facebook page or anything else related to the internet. I find myself a loner in this arena. I like to keep the blog going and occasionally check my dear friends and family's blogs, but I'm not a computer person. I don't love to surf or sign up for different networking systems. I don't like to shop online or even hunt for hilarious youtubes and awesome new singles for my ipod. If it weren't for Harland keeping me somewhat technologically abreast, I'm sure I'd still be using my walkman, my day planner and dinosaur cell phone. But I have to say, as soon as we can save up enough, I have my eye on a mac book and an iPhone. So that's something, right?
Now on to the exciting news...
Today we found out WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!!!!!!!
I can't believe it. Even though I've had just two boys and not 6 in a row like my sister, Ginny, I had convinced myself I was incapable of making girls. There was some relief in that. I can't even braid hair and tights and bows and other accessories gave me anxiety after the ease of jeans and t-shirts for boys day in and day out. We're going out on a limb if Cannon and Henry allow me to put them in a collared polo or layer them in a jacket. But now that I know that she's a SHE, I'm ridiculously excited, and the bows, dresses, matchy shoes, and later the girls nights at the ballet or watching Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and P&P are dancing around happily in my head! The greatest part is that Cannon and Henry are really excited. Cannon especially hoped it was a girl. He loves his friend Liam's little sis Sutton, (whom he affectionately calls "Suttee" like her own family does) and I think he wanted one too!

We've had a great month and a half. The highlights were visits from friends and family, like when Angela Jensen and her brood of 4 as well as Emily McCormick and her adorable 2 came down for a couple of days. My house is pretty tiny, but I barely noticed the tight squeeze because we had such a fantastic time together. I forget how fun it is to laugh late into the night with friends and reminisce about hilarious memories. These gals are truly "kindred spirits" -- I'm so glad they made the drive to see us. I wish I had more pics, but here's a couple:

Ange, Em and me!

We also had a visit this past weekend from Claire and Ryan (of the Hayes fam.) We took them down to Charleston, one of my favorite places, and also spent some time around Charlotte, going to the festival in the park and doing some maternity shopping with Claire (we're due three weeks from each other!) They were even here this morning when I got my ultrasound--so of course they got the news first...

The other thing that I need to mention is that both my boys are in preschool this year. Henry was so excited to start at "Cannon's preschool"--where he watched Cannon bounce excitedly out of the car and into the front doors all last year. Now HE gets a backpack and a teacher and friends and pictures to bring home to mom just like Cannon. He is thrilled. By the way, if you ask Cannon, he is NOT in "preschool" this year. He is in "TK" (transition kindergarten is the name of his class) and he'll make sure to correct you on that if you slip up! Well, I've caught up with the blog! I'll do better next time! (Famous last words!)

Heather, my clone! I am so excited for you!!!!! I know I keep saying this, but we must talk. Soon. Dang, I wish we lived closer so we could feed our girly addictions together. I totally splurged the other day (Nate doesn't even know this yet) and bought my soon-to-be-born Caroline some gold loafers from Old Navy. Go get some! Of course she doesn't need them... they're ridiculous! But so, so cute... I couldn't resist.

I am thrilled for your family! I'll call you soon!

Love,
Jenny
