A Week with friends in Philly and DC!

Another Successful Trip! My philosophy since we moved to Charlotte is: LET'S GO EVERYWHERE! It's weird to have so many cool things within a relatively small drive. So Cannon, Henry and I kissed Dad goodbye (he's working in the Medical ICU this month) and drove with our friend Stephanie and her cute son Tanner up to our first stop: Philly. We got to spend two days with our dear friends, Jenny and Nate Richards and their darling boys, Grant and Jack. It was sooo good to see them and hang with them 24/7 as they (mostly Jenny--Nate's a surgical resident) showed us their beautiful city. Our favorite parts: strolling downtown and passing by all that history, and hot chocolate on the porch swing during a rainstorm. Oh, and of course Jenny, we wont forget your treasured "Wawa's". Their chocolate shakes are awesome--they reminded me of frozen hot chocolate! As for the tuna melt--I didn't get to try it this time (tuna makes me dry heave), but maybe it will give us an excuse to come back.

After saying goodbye to the Richards, we headed down to the DC area (Vienna, VA) to hang out with Angela and Peter Jensen and their sweet bunch--Eliza, Shea and Jonah (and one on the way). We had sooo much fun! I loved being with Ange once again. I don't know how she does everything she does! I got to take a strength training class taught by HER at her gymn (she was a rock star!) and we had so much fun talking, laughing, stepping out to the Cheesecake Factory one night after the kids were in bed. With the kiddos, we visited this darling pumpkin patch with this hilarious hay ride that included riding by everything from a UFO and dancing aliens to all the characters from Wizard of Oz. Totally random and great! There were also a zillion gunny-sack slides, a petting zoo, and then we all got a pumpkin.

The boys and I ventured into the mall area of DC one day. They LOVED the metro and everything else. We went to the natural history museum, the air and space, the sculpture gardens, and also got to see some stuff from my favorite museum (currently being renovated)--the history museum. We also went up to the capitol and had lunch at this yummy restaurant in the American Indian building!

When it was finally time to go on Saturday, we said our goodbyes and headed down South once again. It was so good to see Harl once again. Next time we go to DC (this Spring) he is coming with us. That sounds like the perfect trip to me! This week I scrambled to play catch-up and denied myself some serious ZZZZ's. Now I am getting sick--go figure!

I love everything about trips except making up for lost time when I get back. Now that it's almost Friday, I'm starting to be able to breathe again! (Albeit a wheezy, sore throat breathing)

I am so jealous of your fun play time with Ang!! I can just picture her rocking her gym class with her prego body--love it :) Sounds so fun Heath. I'd love to hear more about it--I'll try and give you a call in the next few days. Hope you can fight that cold!
